{"id":1391,"date":"2016-07-12T08:33:46","date_gmt":"2016-07-12T12:33:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csbcva.org\/?p=1391"},"modified":"2016-08-12T10:18:10","modified_gmt":"2016-08-12T14:18:10","slug":"reasons-we-do-what-we-do-youth-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.csbcva.org\/?p=1391","title":{"rendered":"Reasons We Do What We Do &#8211; Youth Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaker: Trevor Moore (Student Ministry Service)<\/p>\n<h4>Opening Statement:<\/h4>\n<blockquote><p>People think there is lots of don\u2019ts in the Bible and Christian life; however, in reality there are so many dos.<br \/>\nAs believers God\u2019s Word gives clear direction as to what we need to do and why!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Reasons We Do What We Do<\/h3>\n<p>Scripture: James 4:17<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The first thing we will consider is \u2013\u00a0What we do<br \/>\nWhat we do as a local church and what we do as individuals!<\/p>\n<p>First, what we do as a Local Church<\/p>\n<p>1-Meeting together \u2013 Hebrews 10:24, 25<br \/>\nAnd let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:<br \/>\nNot forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learn<\/li>\n<li>Worship<\/li>\n<li>Pray<\/li>\n<li>Encourage<\/li>\n<li>Challenge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2-Reach out together<br \/>\nWe can do more together than apart<br \/>\nWe have different gifts and abilities<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Singing<\/li>\n<li>Teaching<\/li>\n<li>Art work<\/li>\n<li>Repairs<\/li>\n<li>Building\/ painting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Second, what we do as\u00a0an Individual Believer \u2013 1 Timothy 4:7, 8<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But refuse profane and old wives\u2019 fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As believers, we have spiritual disciplines or we could say spiritual exercises in order to be godly<\/p>\n<p>1-Daily time with God (One on one time with God)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bible reading<\/li>\n<li>Prayer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2-Scripture Memory<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Psalm 119:9, 11 \u2013 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.<br \/>\nThy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Have answers from Scripture readily available<\/li>\n<li>Helps us turn away from sin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>James 4:7 &#8211; Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>3-Serving<br \/>\nImpacting the lives of others<\/p>\n<p>The second thing we will consider is\u00a0Reasons why we do it<\/p>\n<p>A. We have been forgiven \u2013 Ephesians 1:7<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If you are not sure about your relationship with God, you really need to make absolutely sure where you are at with Him!<\/p>\n<p>B. A Relationship with Jesus \u2013 Mark 12:30<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What we do is an overflow of our relationship with Christ!<\/p>\n<p>C. There is a need<\/p>\n<p>Kind of needs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>People need to hear about Christ \u2013 Acts 1:8<br \/>\nBut ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth<\/li>\n<li>People need to see an authentic example of Christ<\/li>\n<li>Sin is increasing, the world is becoming darker, Christian\u2019s are to be lights in the midst of darkness \u2013 Matthew 5:16<br \/>\nLet your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.<\/li>\n<li>We need to live so we can say, \u201cFollow me as I follow Christ\u201d<\/li>\n<li>If you are not living the life yourself be careful what you say!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>D.God want us to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be faithfully involved in church<\/li>\n<li>Reach out together<\/li>\n<li>Spend time with Him<\/li>\n<li>Hide His Word in our heart<\/li>\n<li>Serve Him<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In Closing:<br \/>\nThe title of this message \u2013 Reasons We Do What We Do<br \/>\nMy question for you today is are you doing?<\/p>\n<p>Our opening Scripture said,<br \/>\nTherefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Speaker: Trevor Moore (Student Ministry Service) Opening Statement: People think there is lots of don\u2019ts in the Bible and Christian life; however, in reality there are so many dos.
