People think there is lots of don\u2019ts in the Bible and Christian life; however, in reality there are so many dos.
\nAs believers God\u2019s Word gives clear direction as to what we need to do and why!<\/p><\/blockquote>\nReasons We Do What We Do<\/h3>\n
Scripture: James 4:17<\/p>\n
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The first thing we will consider is \u2013\u00a0What we do
\nWhat we do as a local church and what we do as individuals!<\/p>\nFirst, what we do as a Local Church<\/p>\n
1-Meeting together \u2013 Hebrews 10:24, 25
\nAnd let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
\nNot forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.<\/p>\n\n
- Learn<\/li>\n
- Worship<\/li>\n
- Pray<\/li>\n
- Encourage<\/li>\n
- Challenge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
2-Reach out together
\nWe can do more together than apart
\nWe have different gifts and abilities<\/p>\n\n
- Singing<\/li>\n
- Teaching<\/li>\n
- Art work<\/li>\n
- Repairs<\/li>\n
- Building\/ painting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Second, what we do as\u00a0an Individual Believer \u2013 1 Timothy 4:7, 8<\/p>\n
But refuse profane and old wives\u2019 fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
As believers, we have spiritual disciplines or we could say spiritual exercises in order to be godly<\/p>\n
1-Daily time with God (One on one time with God)<\/p>\n
\n
- Bible reading<\/li>\n
- Prayer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
2-Scripture Memory<\/p>\n
Psalm 119:9, 11 \u2013 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
\nThy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n
- Have answers from Scripture readily available<\/li>\n
- Helps us turn away from sin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
James 4:7 – Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
3-Serving
\nImpacting the lives of others<\/p>\nThe second thing we will consider is\u00a0Reasons why we do it<\/p>\n
A. We have been forgiven \u2013 Ephesians 1:7<\/p>\n
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
If you are not sure about your relationship with God, you really need to make absolutely sure where you are at with Him!<\/p>\n
B. A Relationship with Jesus \u2013 Mark 12:30<\/p>\n
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
What we do is an overflow of our relationship with Christ!<\/p>\n
C. There is a need<\/p>\n
Kind of needs:<\/p>\n
\n
- People need to hear about Christ \u2013 Acts 1:8
\nBut ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth<\/li>\n- People need to see an authentic example of Christ<\/li>\n
- Sin is increasing, the world is becoming darker, Christian\u2019s are to be lights in the midst of darkness \u2013 Matthew 5:16
\nLet your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.<\/li>\n- We need to live so we can say, \u201cFollow me as I follow Christ\u201d<\/li>\n
- If you are not living the life yourself be careful what you say!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
D.God want us to<\/p>\n
\n
- Be faithfully involved in church<\/li>\n
- Reach out together<\/li>\n
- Spend time with Him<\/li>\n
- Hide His Word in our heart<\/li>\n
- Serve Him<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
In Closing:
\nThe title of this message \u2013 Reasons We Do What We Do
\nMy question for you today is are you doing?<\/p>\nOur opening Scripture said,
