{"id":2050,"date":"2019-07-31T16:01:28","date_gmt":"2019-07-31T20:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csbcva.org\/?p=2050"},"modified":"2019-07-31T16:01:31","modified_gmt":"2019-07-31T20:01:31","slug":"resurgence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.csbcva.org\/?p=2050","title":{"rendered":"Resurgence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These notes are from the Sunday morning service on July 28, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:  Jeremiah 29, James 4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">What is Resurgence?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Defined: A growth or increase that occurs after a period without growth or increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A fresh encounter with the presence of Christ<\/li><li>A return to the same love, joy, excitement, and obedience that characterized you the day you got saved.<\/li><li>An extraordinary work of God<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> &#8220;The word revival is sparingly used in the Bible.  Though rarely used, the concept of spiritual resurgence is woven throughout the entire fabric of Scripture.&#8221;<\/p><cite>Harold Vaughan<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example from Scripture:  II Kings 22-23, II Chronicles 34-35<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Why is Resurgence Needed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Christians become weary in well doing.  -Galatians 6:9<\/li><li>Christians lose their thirst for God.  -Psalm 42:1-2<\/li><li>Christians develop a Sunday Morning Only mentality.<\/li><li>Christians become complacent in service.<\/li><li>Christians can lose their burden for the lost.<\/li><li>Christians drift in devotion to Christ, backsliding from a church pew.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Why does Corner Stone of Naola Specifically Need Resurgence?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We cannot handle a &#8220;wave&#8221; should God send one!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;Watch and see where God is working and join Him.&#8221; <\/p><cite> Henry Blackaby, Experiencing God <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;Our job as church leaders, like experienced surfers, is to recognize a wave of God&#8217;s Spirit and ride it.  It is not our responsibility to make waves but to recognize how God is working in the world and join Him in the endeavor.&#8221;  <\/p><cite> -Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Church <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Three Observations About Waves<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>God is the one that makes the waves.<ul><li>Ocean waves are caused by wind moving across the surface of the water.<\/li><li>In Scripture, wind is an emblem of the Holy Spirit.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Surfers just ride the waves.<ul><li>We respond to what God is doing and join with Him.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Waves only last for a period of time. (Window of opportunity)<ul><li>Ephesians 5:16 &#8211; Redeeming the time, because the days are evil<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Some Positive Things to Note About Corner Stone Baptist Church of Naola<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A loving congregation<\/li><li>A congregation that desires to be taught Biblical truth<\/li><li>A congregation that cares about reaching beyond the walls of this church building<\/li><li>A giving congregation<\/li><li>A congregation that is supportive of pastoral leadership<\/li><li>A church that has exceptional men serving as deacons<\/li><li>Our church has people who truly care about humbly serving the Lord<\/li><li>Just in the last year there are people that we have seen God at work transforming their lives<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">All that being said, we are also a church that has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">leveled off<\/span> or is in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">decline<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not enough people have stepped up to replace those who are either no longer with us or are unable to continue serving at the level they once did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Please visit the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.csbcva.org\/?page_id=2028\"><em>Resurgence 2019<\/em><\/a><em> section of our website to watch a video of this important message and to learn more about this major event in the life of Corner Stone Baptist Church coming up September 20-22, 2019.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These notes are from the Sunday morning service on July 28, 2019.
