{"id":702,"date":"2015-10-12T14:33:21","date_gmt":"2015-10-12T18:33:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csbcva.org\/?p=702"},"modified":"2015-10-12T14:33:21","modified_gmt":"2015-10-12T18:33:21","slug":"miracles-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.csbcva.org\/?p=702","title":{"rendered":"Miracles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Here are the completed notes from the Sunday Evening Service October 11, 2015:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scripture: Matthew 8<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Review &#8211; Defining a Miracle:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A Supernatural Intervention &#8211; God, who is continuously active in the world, breaks His usual pattern and does something extraordinary<\/li>\n<li>A Miracle Transcends Natural Laws (but doesn&#8217;t break natural laws) &#8211; A miracle overpowers the law of nature &#8211; it is an exception to a natural law<\/li>\n<li>A Miracle has a special purpose<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Authentic Miracles are part of the means of establishing the true religion.<\/p>\n<h3>What about the Other Religions that Claim Miracles?<\/h3>\n<p>Are miracle claims the same for all faiths?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Muhammad is said to have healed the sore eyes of men<\/li>\n<li>Some Hindus and Buddhists claim they can levitate themselves or others<\/li>\n<li>Joseph Smith said he could translate &#8220;reformed Egyptian&#8221; even through he couldn&#8217;t read Egyptian<\/li>\n<li>People in the occult claim they can predict the future by looking into crystal balls or reading cards or tea leaves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to C.S.
